Tunneling

In tunneling highest demands are placed towards all involved systems. It is important to resist temperature fluctuations and humid environments whether the tunnel boring or mechanical excavation is used. Furthermore, large wire cross-sections have to be connected safely. And high IP protection and heating of the junction box are key.

15 kV connectors and 25 kV couplers from Patton & Cooke have been tried and tested in this demanding segment. They achieve a protection class of IP 67 and can be potted. As an alternative to connectors, high voltage junction boxes up to 24 kV can be used. Depending on customer requirements, it is possible to equip the junction boxes with pressure compensation elements and heaters on request. Various standard enclosures up to 1kV are available for the final assembly, which can be pre-assembled according to customer specifications.
